Matthew Settle is an American actor. He is known for playing Captain Ronald Speirs on the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers and Rufus Humphrey on the CW teen drama series Gossip Girl.
Matthew is the son of Joan and The Rev. Robert Settle, a Baptist minister. He has a daughter with his former wife, Israeli Jewish actress and model Naama Nativ.
Matthew’s paternal grandfather was George Jarvis Settle (the son of Walter J. Watt Settle and Martha Jane Hutchinson). Walter was the son of Henry Perry Settle and Mary Jane Silcox. Martha was the daughter of William Hutcheson and Elizabeth McCoy.
Matthew’s paternal grandmother was Alice Vandalee Gray (the daughter of Jasper Garret Gray and Orlina/Orlena/Arlene Loy). Orlina was the daughter of Sampson Loy and Martha Flatford.
