Lindsey Stirling is an American violinist, singer, songwriter, and dancer. She is known for her albums “Shatter Me” and “Brave Enough.”

Lindsey’s paternal grandfather was Douglas Miles Stirling (the son of James Stirling and Florence Violette Miles). James was the son of Scottish parents, James Stirling and Catherine McKillop Young. Florence was the son of an American father, William Hart Miles, who was of English descent, and of English mother, Jane Fox Stevenson.

Lindsey’s paternal grandmother was Ruth Fotheringham (the daughter of Stephen Hales Fotheringham and Elizabeth Goddard Woodbury). Stephen was the son of Scottish parents, William Fotheringham and Elizabeth Hardy. Elizabeth was the daughter of an American father, Orin Nelson Woodbury, of English descent, and of an English mother, Frances Goddard.

Lindsey’s maternal grandfather was Henry Hamblin Leigh (the son of Henry Webster Leigh and Elizabeth Hamblin). Lindsey’s great-grandfather Henry was the son of a Welsh father, Henry Leigh, and of an American mother, Amy Elizabeth Webster, whose parents were English. Elizabeth was the daughter of Francis Marion Hamblin, who was of English descent, and of Rose Anna Jane Brown, who was born to an American father of English descent, and to a mother from the Isle of Man. Lindsey’s great-grandfather Francis was the nephew of Jacob Hamblin, a prominent Mormon pioneer.

Lindsey’s maternal grandmother was Jean Jensen (the daughter of John Henry Jensen and Jennie Richards). John was the son of Danish parents, Niels Andersen Jensen and Else Marie Ebbesen. Jennie was the daughter of a Welsh father, Thomas Richards, and an American mother, Jane Newberry Pendleton, who was of English descent.

Through her great-great-grandfather Orin Woodbury, Lindsey is a third cousin once removed of singer Brandon Flowers.
