Helen Clark is a New Zealand politician. She served as Prime Minister of New Zealand, from 10 December, 1999 to 19 November, 2008. She was also Minister of Health, from 30 January, 1989 to 2 November, 1990, Leader of the Labour Party, from 1 December, 1993 to 19 November, 2008, and Leader of the Opposition, from 1 December, 1993 to 10 December, 1999, among many other duties.

Helen is the daughter of Margaret Helen (McMurray), a primary school teacher, and George Clark, a farmer. She is married to English-born, sociologist Peter Davis.

Helen’s paternal grandfather was Fred Clark (the son of Thomas Clark and Elizabeth Evans). Thomas was English.

Helen’s paternal grandfather was Elizabeth Grace Arthur (the daughter of Leslie Irvine Arthur and Maryanne Marsh). Leslie was Scottish, the son of Thomas Arthur and Margaret Irvine. Maryanne was the daughter of English parents, John Smith Marsh and Emma Gibbons.

Helen’s paternal grandfather was David McMurray (the son of Henry McMurray and Margaret Ann Rusk). David was born in Armagh, Northern Ireland. Henry was the son of John McMurray and Sarah Guy. Margaret was the daughter of Richard Rusk and Mary Cairns.

Helen’s paternal grandfather was Sarah McMillan (the daughter of William McMillan and Catherine Helen Hutchinson). William was the son of Ronald McMillan, who was Scottish, and Jane Tait. Catherine was Archibald Hutchinson and Elizabeth Lambert, who was Scottish.
