Dag Hammarskjöld was a Swedish economist and diplomat. He served as the second Secretary-General of the United Nations, from 10 April, 1953 to 18 September, 1961.
He was the son of Agnes Maria Carolina (Almquist) and politician Hjalmar Hammarskjöld, who served as the Prime Minister of Sweden, from 17 February 1914 to 30 March 1917.
